A big part of mental health awareness is being able to take care of your own mental wellbeing. So in that spirit here are a couple of tips to help you take better care of your own mental health.
The first step in creating affirmations is to clarify your intentions. It might feel a little silly but there is something about looking straight into the mirror and saying, "I love you. You're worthy. You deserve greatness." You’ll be shocked at what a huge change these positive phrases can bring about in your life.
Crying seems to have negative connotations in modern society, especially for boys. If you cry you might be thought of as “weak” or “not manly” but this could not be less true. According to psychologists the humans’ ability to cry has survival value; it relieves stress, lowers blood pressure as well as removes toxins from the body. It is incredibly healthy and natural to cry every once in a while.
Gratitude journaling assists with shifting your mind-set from being negative to instantly positive, because you are able to see what you have in your life. It is important to take stock of your life sometimes and having everything you are grateful for at your fingertips can definitely improve your outlook on life.
Sleep is hard to come by sometimes. But teens in particular need a lot of it. If you are not getting enough rest, you are probably not reaching your full capacity. Lack of sleep can cause you to be unfocussed, irritable and generally out of it so try and get your full 8 hours per night.
