The film and TV industry is truly amazing and some of your fav entertainment is created from it. However, the industry is very difficult you get into and that is why many people just do it themselves with their friends or family helping as cast and crew. So, for those of you that are interested in doing it yourselves here are a couple of tips for you filmmakers just starting out.
We tend to get caught up in the visuals of a film especially when creating your own. You want a shot to come out just how you see it in your head but just as important as the image is the sound. No one will want to continue watching your film, no matter how good it looks, if they cannot hear anything and cannot understand what’s going on.
In today’s modern age it is easier than ever before to shoot your own footage on something as simple as your phone. In the past people were limited by the literal amount of film they had left in their camera. These days with the availability of digital and cloud storage you should really film as much as you can. It is better to have too much footage than too little.
Do some research if you can and find some directors, writers or even directors of photography that you like and try to figure out what it is that you like about them. Once you know what style of film you like put your own spin on it. Remember no one will ever see things from exactly your point of view so put that unique way of looking at things to the test and create something all your own!
If you ask absolutely anyone that works in the film and TV industry, they will tell you it takes nothing less than a team effort to get the job done, you simply cannot do it by yourself. This does not mean you need to hire an entire crew though, just ask your friends and family to help you out. If you clearly explain your vision for what you want to achieve, people are usually more than happy to help.
As previously mentioned, filming your own footage in the current technological age is easier than ever, this is just as true for sharing the content that you have created. Everyone can name at least 3 free video sharing sites off the top of their heads. In addition, social media has made it easy to get the word out about the amazing films and TV out there.
