3 ways to cleanse your space during spring

As we enter spring, the time of renewal and cleansing for our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, there are several ways in which we can assist with the process of starting fresh in this new season. Here are 3 traditional herbs used to cleanse a space and the spirit.

Mphepho

Known as Africa’s sacred herb, it said that Imphepho was the first medicine that was shown to the healers. When they started to use this medicine, it guided them to find and how to use other medicines and so they started to learn about herbs. It is a very powerful plant and its medicinal uses are the subject of scientific study. It is the most widely used medicinal plant in South Africa.

Incense

We have all probably seen and used incense before but where does this practice come from. History shows that incense was in common use in Near East countries, burnt for its perfume. Incense and its rising smoke gave it a kind of natural symbolism that has merged itself into modern culture and is largely used in yoga and meditation sessions.

Burning Sage

We’ve all watched movies and seen the really “zen” characters burn sage, we give some knowledge on this ancient practice. One of the most sacred herbs among Native Americans. This plant is used to purify the mind, body and spirit before prayer, meditation, ritual or ceremony.

These are just a few traditional ways for you to cleanse yourself and your space during the spring time but we as always want to hear from you guys, what are some of your own traditions during spring time for cleansing your space?
