3 Things to be thankful to Madiba for

Nelson R Mandela is one of very few people who have effected change on a global scale for the better. As South Africans Madiba holds a special place in our hearts and no matter where you are right now, the work he has done has affected us all. Here are just 3 reasons we have to be grateful to Madeba for.

The spirit of Ubuntu lived in him

In the words of Barack Obama “he not only embodied Ubuntu but taught millions to find that the truth within themselves.” This belief in humanity came from his strong African roots and a soul that longed to help his fellow man.

Set an example of dedication, courage and sacrifice

Did you guys know that in 1985, the government actually offered to release him under the conditions that he would not engage in political activities once free? Nelson refused and replied "I cannot and will not give any undertaking at a time when I and you, the people, are not free.” It was this uncompromising dedication to equality and freedom we are all thankful for.

Advocating for justice for all in the world

We all know that Madiba stood for peace, justice and freedom but not only for South Africa but for everyone around the world. He not only spread a message of acceptance and equality but he also set an example for all those activists, advocates and all the freedom fighters who came after him to stand up proudly for a cause they believe in
