A day in the life of...

The art of graffiti used to piece South Africa together.

Hectic Nine-9 enjoyed an inspirational day with Falko One and Rasty, as they painted the walls of local residents' houses. "Once Upon A Town" is Falko's new splitepiece, and is being created throughout the streets of Mamre and Pella.

A splitpiece works like this - Falko and Rasty graffiti different walls, with different parts of a story and then piece each mural together (with photographs by Andrew Royal) to form a completed exhibition.

Falko uses his splitpieces to show people that graffiti can be real art. It can also offer community upliftment by giving the sommunity streets something new and colourful to enjoy every day. There's even the possibility of employment - Falko got some local residents involved with painting the walls he worked on - teaching them new skills that could be beneficial.
