YOUR WEEKEND WRAP-UP

Big news of the weekend was The Golden Globe Awards, one of the biggest movie events of the year. The big winners this year were a George Clooney movie called The Descendants, and a French movie called The Artist. The amazing thing about The Artist is that it’s a black-and-white movie AND it’s a silent movie. So it’s very old-fashioned with no CGI or fancy special effects, but it STILL managed to win the big prize.

Another big winner at the Golden Globes was Madonna. She’s one of the biggest names in music and she’s always tried to be successful in the movie business. But people generally agree that all Madonna’s movies have been bad, bad or VERY bad. Now she’s made a movie called W.E., which she wrote and directed. She didn’t win any awards for this, but she DID win an award for writing a song for the movie. So Madonna is now celebrating.

Somebody who ISN’T celebrating is Kim Kardashian. An article in a New York newspaper said the Kardashian empire is falling apart, claiming that the family and their TV shows are losing popularity and it’s all over for Kim and the gang. Over the weekend, Kim responded on her website, attacking the newspaper for printing inaccurate information and stating that the Kardashians are still going strong. The interesting thing is that Kim has been insulted before and she usually doesn’t respond, so she must have been REALLY upset this time because she actually replied to the article.
