It was all about birthdays this weekend... the ANC, the Duchess of Cambridge, and a bundle of joy for Beyonce and Jay-Z. The biggest story in SA was the ANC’s centenary celebrations. It was reported that over 100 000 people gathered in Bloemfontein, where the ANC was founded in 1912. Heads of state from around the world joined the party, which included a church service, a concert, a golf tournament and a gala dinner. On Sunday President Jacob Zuma made a 90-minute speech to wrap up the 3-day celebration. Speaking of birthdays, proud parents Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed their baby girl on Saturday. She was born in a Manhattan hospital after Beyonce checked in under the name of Ingrid Jackson and rented out an entire floor of the hospital. The baby’s name hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. But according to friends of the couple, the little girl is called Blue Ivy Carter. And in MORE birthday news, today marks the 30th birthday of the Duchess of Cambridge, AKA Prince William’s wife Kate. She’s chosen to have a quiet celebration with family and friends, and said she might have a big birthday bash later in the year. People all over the UK will be celebrating and we can be sure they’ll be sending cards and flowers. And Kim Kardashian is celebrating the Duchess’ birthday in her own way... by designing a pair of shoes.
