Esther Project

I was recently invited to be a judge at the "Queen Esther Project". A beauty pageant in a place called Brooklyn in CPT. For those of you that are not familiar with the area Brooklyn, it is just a few minutes outside of the CBD. It's a slum area, with a lot of drug pushing as well as prostitution and a high rate of girls who are getting pregnant in their teens.

The good news is this project, "Queen Esther" - from slavery to royalty.

The entire concept is based on the biblical story of Queen Esther who was a slave and who turned out to be the Queen of the Jews. So the ladies who entered this amazing pageant are given hope in their lives to step out of the norms that their community presents to them, to step out of slavery and become the Queens they were all meant to be.

Through taking part in this pageant they are set up to be role models in a crime-stricken neighborhood, and the hope is that they will continue to grow as amazing young ladies after the conference.
